A MEMORIAL service has been held to remember Chadwell preacher, Cathy Mhlaba and her 16-year-old son Beki Ali, who died in a car fire in Thorpe Bay.
Ms Mhlaba preached at an evangelical church in Chadwell St Mary.
Hundreds attended the service was held at St Mary’s Church, Prittlewell.
At the opening of an inquest, assistant coroner for Essex, Eleanor McGann, said the pair died of burning and inhalation through combustion.
The inquest was adjourned until May.
