ON Thursday, 22 May, there will be elections across Thurrock this year, in all but four wards local council seats will be contested as well as the European Union ballot.
Voters in Chafford and North Stifford, Corringham and Fobbing, East Tilbury, and Stanford-le-Hope West will only be able to vote in the European election.
Thurrock Council’s electoral services team is hosting a notification of candidates and agents briefing for the local election on Tuesday, 4 March at 4pm in Committee Room 4 of the Civic Offices in Grays.
The combination of European and local elections means there are some significant changes to the usual programme of events.
The aim of the briefing is to provide relevant details and documents to effectively begin campaigns. Packs will be issued which will include nomination papers and timetables, how to obtain Electoral Registers and absent vote lists, and an outline of the procedures for postal vote issue and opening, and the count itself.
Those who receive an invitation, or who would like to attend, should contact electoral services by email to electoral.services@thurrock.gov.uk or by calling 01375 652816.
