Mallets at the ready as polo comes to Blackshots

THERE will be mallets but no horses when polo comes to Thurrock on Sunday, June 15.

The free bike polo demonstration and taster sessions at Blackshots playing field will be a first for the borough and a high point of Bike Week (14 to 22 June) in Thurrock.

It’s a great chance to see this fast moving game in action and to try it out for yourself. Bikes and equipment will be provided so just turn up between 11am and 4pm.

There’s a packed programme of free events throughout Bike Week put together by Travel Thurrock with TRUP (Thurrock Re-Use Partnership) and cycling charity Sustrans.

These include organised cycle rides, cycle maintenance courses and free bicycle checks as well as the return of the popular HGV Awareness Day at intu Lakeside. This event puts you in the driver’s seat of a large lorry so you can see the dangerous blind spots for yourself.

Come along to any of the events and sign up for Travel Thurrock news. You will be entered into a free prize draw for a child or adult’s bike.
