Top Thurrock cop arrested over sex offence probe


A TOP Thurrock police officer has been arrested on suspicion of a sexual offence.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “On Thursday May 8th, Essex Police arrested a man in connection with a investigation involving an allegation of a sex offence.

“He has been bailed until mid-June.”

Though he has not been named offically, YT understands that the person arrested was Thurrock Divisional Commander, chief inspector Ben Hodder.

Chief Inspector Hodder had been district commander of the police in Thurrock for over two years and has nearly twenty years service in Essex Police, mainly in the Thurrock, Basildon and Harlow areas.

Essex Police also confirmed that an officer has been suspended at this time.

High profile local police officer Leigh Norris has been named by the force as acting Chief Inspector in Thurrock.
