Swimming: Thurrock shine at regional champs

swim3THURROCK Swimming Club squad members once again showcased their talent by qualifying and competing at the East Region ASA Regional Championships held over the last two weekends in Norwich and faced tough competition from the six counties that make up the East Region.

Aaron Lambie in his first championships was crowned regional champion for the age 10 years 200m butterfly and added a silver for the 100m Butterfly, bronze for the 400m individual medley, and was a finalist and finished in 6th in the 200m freestyle, 8th in the 200m IM and 8th in 200m Freestyle.  Aaron finished 6th overall in the aged 10 year category for the championships.  

Medalists – Aaron Lambie and Jamie Speers Also competing in their first regional championships and reaching finals, Jack Conroy came 4th in the 10 years 400m individual medley and 5th in 200m Backstroke, Harrison Jarvis came 5th in the 10 years 100m breaststroke and 6th in 200m Breaststroke, Tilly Mayes came 4th in 10 years 100m Breaststroke, 9th in 200m Breaststroke. Other finalists included Jamie Speers who won a bronze medal in age 11 years 400m freestyle and came 6th in the 200m freestyle, Andrew Martindale who came 4th in the age 14 years 200m butterfly and 7th in the 100m butterfly and James Martindale who came 6th in the age 14 years 200m butterfly. 

Also competing in the championships were Azar Aitmarri who came  12th in the 13 years 1500m freestyle, Mia Fursedonne who came 21st in 11 years 100m Freestyle, and Martine Tran who came 15th in 12 years 100m Freestyle and 20th in 100m backstroke.
