Billericay Town 2 v 0 East Thurrock United
East Thurrock never really got going in a disappointing defeat by 2-0 against Billericay Town.
The two goals came from an own goal in the first half and then a great free kick from Blues skipper Richard Halle.
With the rain pouring, these were difficult conditions, but both teams coped admirably.
Both teams also had a certain patched up look. Billericay were missing Ricky Sappleton and Chris Benjamin whilst East Thurrock lack strength in depth.
The first goal was scored in the 29th minute when a misguided header by Tom Stephen went looping over his own keeper’s head.
Both sides had their chances but it was Billericay who made sure of the three points when Halle struck a free kick from twenty yards.
