She introduced speaker David Tweedle who gave us a talk and showed slides of the Mediterranean. This was a journey seeped in history . The British have adopted many of the things that originated in this area.
From the Rock of Gibraltar and the combination of fresh and salt water that merged into the sea around it to its history of the apes that inhabit it.
Then on to how the people in Syria used snow to sprinkle over food thus the first invention of ice cream this tale unfolded with fascinating facts.
How the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti is still thought of an icon in the fashion world, for her beauty and slim posture. Funeral masks and gold coins all came to life in this excellent presentation from David and ending with the Acropolis that was given as and equivalent to our Lakeside shopping centre.
