THE THURROCK Conservatives have slammed the binmen of Thurrock after the announced they are planning to strike.
The Conservative spokesman for Environment,, cllr Pauline Tolson said "Back in July I asked the Labour administration what they are going to do, to ensure residents get the refuse collection service they pay for.
"I didn’t get an answer then, and now we looking at yet more industrial unrest and probably weeks of disruptions for residents to come.
"I would thank those refuse workers who continue to work hard for residents during this spell of industrial unrest and hope they will cope with the extra pressure of having to work harder to cover those who have downed tools."
Conservative Leader Rob Gledhill added "After the last spate if industrial action some Thurrock residents experienced weeks of missed bin collection.
"I am sure they, like me, will want to know if Thurrock’s Labour leadership have met with UNITE to avert this strike or if they, like Ed Miliband, are letting them call the shots."
