IF EVER there was someone with political momentum then it is UKIP’s Tim Aker.
To remind you: the Aveley man is already the MEP for the East of England and is also the prospective parliamentary candidate for Thurrock.
There is a spring in Tim’s step like a man with a political wind at his back. Whether it is out campaigning with his growing army of supporters and activists or it is at public engagements.
He seems to be paying as much attention to the incumbent MP, Jackie Doyle Price as Mo Farah does to a runner he is about to lap.
It is worthy of note that Tim’s speech makes a number of criticisms of the Labour candidate, Polly Billington.
In his speech, Tim quotes a recent Lord Ashcroft poll which shows that "UKIP are on course to take Thurrock at next years General Election."
Tim has not been afraid to tackle (in light of the port of Tilbury incident) the issue of asylum seekers and seems to have his finger on the pulse of so many issues in Thurrock from mould to surgery waiting times.
