A NEW and exciting development is planned for the Stifford Clays and Blackshots area. ngage, the community organisation and volunteer centre for Thurrock are encouraging people who live or work in Stifford Clays and Blackshots to take part in a survey about providing a new community hub/centre for the area.
The hub will provide a new way for residents to work side by side with public services, local business and the voluntary sector, to create a new type of service delivery that puts local people in the driving seat. The plan is for a community hub that will support and coordinate a range of activities in Stifford Clays and Blackshots wherever they take place the long term plan are for a new centre that will support the growing community and provide activities and services which will support those that need it.
South Ockendon Centre and Chadwell St Mary Centre have community hubs which have been extremely successful in supporting a number of local services and activities, and groups in the area.
Annette Lewis, community worker for ngage said “It’s important that local people take part in the survey to ensure that they have their say on the activities they would like to see in the centre. With the help of local volunteers, ngage will be visiting the area on a weekly basis to speak to as many people as we can. The survey is also available online and at number of local shops and facilities in the Stifford Clays and Blackshots area”.
There are drop boxes available for people to leave their completed surveys at Stifford Clays Medical Centre and Violets needlecraft shop in Crammavill Street. In Blackshots, there are boxes located at Blackshots Library, Occasions Cakes in Jesmond Road, and the General store in Blackshots Lane. People who take part also have the chance to win a £50 voucher.
