STAFF at Ford motors have gone the extra mile by helping Thurrock Mind with their community garden.
Ford’s Kevin Lazell and his team came in recently to the Bridge Road centre and refurbished/painted all the hard areas in our garden together with repainting our day room.
A spokesperson for Thurrock Mind said: "All the clients and staff were delighted with the makeover and the day room is now very bright and uplifting and the garden is now ready for winter.
We also spoke to Mr Lazell and asked how he got involved.
He said: "The management team at Ford Dunton wanted to find a worthwhile cause that could benefit from us working with them for a day on small in-house projects. Thurrock Mind was suggested by me as living in Grays most of my life, I am aware of the fantastic work you do in the surrounding community. Also a family friend works with MIND and made us aware of what is involved and the struggle for funding and support.
I would like to mention our two sponsors, Eriks, who provided all of our paint brushes, gloves and other equipment and The Foxhound Pub in Orsett who provided our lunch, all free of charge.
"All of the team put in made a donation and the manager Lee Turner equalled this, well done Lee!!"
