FA Cup Third Preliminary Round Replay
Bromley 5 v 0 Grays Ath
GRAYS Athletic crashed out of the FA Cup with a 5-0 thrashing by Conference South side Bromley.
In many ways, this will be treated by The Blues as a valuable lesson from a team that are knocking on the door of promotion to the Conference Premier.
The Bromley boss, Mark Goldberg rang the changes with his team selection and it paid off.
Early on, Moses Ademola and former Grays striker, Louis Dennis posed a real threat down the left.
Reece Prestedge bundled the ball home to put Bromley in front after 19 minutes.
Grays keeper, Connor Gough was a star on Saturday and he was busy again, defying Jordan Robertson and Louis Dennis. But he blotted his copy book in the 33rd minute when he brought down another former Blue, Pierre Joseph-Dubois as the tricky winger skipped past him. Jordan Robertson tucked away the spot kick to make it 2-0.
Late on in the half Ali Fuseini hit the bar with a fierce drive from distance, while Grays also created chances with Joao Carlos going close.
Like Saturday, Jay Siva and Joao Carlos were putting in the crosses but there wasn’t a player to connect. You can imagine that the Grays scouts may need to go out and find themselves a target man.
Bromley stretched further ahead in the 58th minute when Adam Bailey-Dennis headed home off the bar.
The bad night for the Blues was compounded on 70 minutes when Duncan Culley scrambled the ball home and two minutes when the winger lobbed keeper Gough from 30yards to make it 5-0.
Grays now head to Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
