DP World London Gateway hosted their annual charity quiz night to raise money for Meningitis Now and Little Havens Hospice. The two charities are very close to the hearts of those at DP World London Gateway and through the event the team managed to raise over £30,000.
Geraldine Cowell from Meningitis Now commented, “We’d like to thank the DP World London Gateway team for putting on this fantastic event, raising even more money than last year, and raising awareness for Meningitis Now.”
The quiz night was attended by over 400 people including members of the DP World London Gateway team as well as their suppliers and contractors. Contractors and suppliers donated generously to the raffle with prizes such as a weekend in Brussels and several plasma screen TVs.
“We’re delighted the event was such a success. DP World London Gateway and their suppliers donated so generously to the raffle and the silent auction that we managed to raise more than we could have expected.
The money raised goes a considerable way towards the £46,000 that we must find each week to support all those who need us, helping to control pain and medication, offering respite and care for children at the end of their lives.
We don’t charge a penny to our patients for the support we provide – and that’s only possible because of donations made by people at events such as this one,” said Lydia Plews, Corporate Fundraiser at Little Havens Hospice.
The quiz involved one round of London Gateway trivia and general knowledge and one more unusual round which involved each team competing to put together Lego cargo trucks and loading ports. The winning team were Fellowship Productions, who went home with a bottle of champagne and the London Gateway Charity Quiz Night trophy.
Darren Hickey from Fellowship Productions said, “It’s fantastic to be involved this event. Not only was it great fun, but we raised an incredible amount of money for two very worthy charities.”
