POLICE have appealed for information to find two men suspected of being in a car that deliberately rammed a police car at Tilbury.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the crash at St Chads Road at about 1.30am on Wednesday, December 17.

The marked police car, driven by a female officer on a routine patrol, was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta which then left the scene at speed. It was later found abandoned nearby.

An extensive area search was carried out by various police units but there was no trace of the two men, who are suspected of being involved in previous burglaries in the area.

The female officer was taken to hospital for a check-up but did not require treatment.

Anyone with information about the users of the Fiesta, index number W634YHJ, which had been sold by a previous owner a few weeks earlier, should contact officers at Chigwell road policing office on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5555111.
