NEWLY elected Thurrock Councillor Tim Aker’s first meeting at full Council ended in success as his motion to defend weekly bin collections was passed.

The motion read: Thurrock Council calls on the cabinet to reject fortnightly bin collections.

Tim Aker MEP said: “I am delighted that my motion to maintain weekly bin collections in Thurrock was voted for and passed through.

“These kind of services are what local people want and expect. Though budgets are going through hard times, UKIP will fight to maintain essential services for residents.

“It was good to see Labour and Conservative Councillors back this motion put forward by me for the good of the borough. Weekly bin collections are a critical service and must remain.”
