Palmer’s students knocked out by boxing champ Hannah Beharry

BTEC Sports students at Palmer’s College were blown away by the powerful words of GB Boxing Champion Hannah Beharry on success and determination.

The two times England champion visited Palmer’s College on Monday 2 February and spent the morning talking to over 200 BTEC Sports and Science students. Hannah gave an insight into what life was like for her at 17 and how she got to where she is today.

The students had the opportunity to ask questions and were also treated to a practical session with the champion who gave a few tips on the fundamentals of boxing.

Hannah Beharry, 27 from Acton, London said: “I’ve had a fantastic morning, the students were fantastic and asked some great questions. It’s always so great to talk to young people and help them achieve their best. I really wish all the students the best for the future.”

She added: “Sport has changed my life around, if I hadn’t started up boxing I don’t know if I would have been doing this amazing job that I get to do now.”

Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer’s College said: “It was a pleasure to invite Hannah to the College. She gave an inspirational talk to our students and by her own example clearly illustrated the link between hard work and success.”

Hannah was very impressed to see a fellow female boxer in the group. Student Courtney Davis currently boxes and was absolutely delighted to meet her idol.
