THE LICENCE for a Grays public house is up for examination after a shocking report of public order incidents over the last year has been submitted to Thurrock Council.

The licensing committee at Thurrock Council will be sitting on Wednesday night (Feb 18th) at the Civic Offices in Grays and will need to wade through a 245 page report that documents the long list of assaults, breaches and fights at the Queens public house in Clarence Road.

The evidence from the police is bad enough and this is corroborated by local residents who have written to Thurrock Council and detailed incidents of violence, drunkeness. drug taking as well as children (as young as three) being left outside to play.

It appears that life has become a "living hell" for the residents of the Queensgate Centre nearby.

Not only does the long list of public disorder cause disquiet but it is also the sense of chaos within the pub that will also cause alarm. In particular, reports of customers helping themselves to drinks.

The report has been submitted by the Chief Inspector, Leigh Norris and is quite a detailed list.

    It states:

"Between the 1st January 2014 and the 6th December 2014 the Police have had reported to them nine incidents, the majority of which have necessitated their attendance at the premises.

In the main the incidents involved allegations of assault and disorder.

During the same period Police have recorded eight crimes which are directly linked to this premise

Mainly as a result of assaults and disorder taking place, a number of people have been injured.

In some cases this has necessitated injured parties attending hospital.

On a number of occasions disorder which had originated inside the premise then moved outside into the public street.

Members of the public who were present were exposed to persons fighting and general disorder.
