A CHAFFORD councillor has backed proposals for a "Citizens’ Traffic Warden" system as proposed by Thurrock Labour.
The postbag of South Chafford councillor, Tunde Ojetola has been crammed with complaints regarding parking near Harris Academy.
Cllr Ojetola said: "I am pleased that the government has listened to local residents by empowering them to enforce traffic restrictions on their area. This is especially so as residents living close to Harris Academy, Chafford Hundred, or Little Thurrock Primary, Deneholme and any other popular schools etc have experienced issues with parking.
"I encourage all residents, schools and teachers to embrace this as quickly as possible and I look forward to the training as I too will happily volunteer for it.
"It’s a shame that Labour couldn’t run the cctv car even though the government allowed its use to manage traffic in school areas.
"Most councils (eg Hackney) make a lot of money from parking, as it’s seen as a goose that laid the golden eggs except in Thurrock".
