STANFORD WEST’S Labour candidate for the local elections in May has been taking on the challenge of broken pavements in Stanford-le-Hope.
Ms Vine said: ’’I am pleased that the Highway Agency has listened to my requests and the part of pavement on Southend Road has been fixed and that the Agency has agreed to consider a request for funding for a better and a more permanent solution.
The Highway Agency is also considering the same request to fix cracked pavement on King Street, High Street and Corringham Road.
“All these places are in town centre, where a large number of pedestrians walk every day, many of them elderly people, children and other people prone to falls and damaged pavements, holes and cracks increase the risk of tripping and falls.
"As soon as residents and business owners reported this problem to me I have requested from the Highways Agency to take a prompt action and I must say, I am pleased from the quick response from this agency.”
