DEFRA have released advice and information as Thurrock prepares for high levels of pollution.
Locally generated pollution, along with continental contributions and a wave of Saharan dust could cause problems to people with respiratory issues.
The high levels of pollution have been forecast for Friday, April 10, affecting central, eastern and northern England.
Very high levels can be expected in the southeast of England due to a flow from the south.
For the rest of the country, moderate levels are forecast before clear Atlantic air will sweep through to lower the amount of pollution on Saturday and Sunday.
DEFRA have released the following advice to the public for during the very high levels of pollution:
"Adults and children with lung problems, adults with heart problems, and older people, should avoid strenuous physical activity. People with asthma may find they need to use their reliever inhaler more often.
"Reduce physical exertion, particularly outdoors, especially if you experience symptoms such as cough or sore throat."
