UKIP leader, Nigel Farage came to Thurrock as his election campaign hots up.
Mr Farage headed to Derwent Parade in South Ockendon, seen as UKIP Thurrock’s heartland.
It was exactly the same place where he went walkabout when UKIP had such success at the european elections in May 2014.
Ukip unveiled proposals for petitions that gather more than two million signatures to have the chance to be put to a referendum.
Mr Farage said every two years the most popular petition would be put to a national vote with the result included in the next Queen’s Speech.
The move is part of wider electoral reform package announced by the party which includes creating "real recall" powers for voters to sack their MPs and scrapping First Past The Post.
Mr Farage will later attend a rally at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet which is expected to have over 1000 in attendance.
