Ockendon man jailed after inventing kidnapping story to obtain cash from father

    AN OCKENDON man has been jailed after attempting to carry out a bogus kidnapping scam.

    A court heard that on the 13th October, 2014, Paul Emery, 32, Dart Green, South Ockendon: " Dishonestly made a false representation, namely inventing a kidnapping to obtain money from his father."

    Emery, who pleaded guilty to the charge, was sentenced to seven weeks in prison.

    He was also made the subject of a restraining order preventing going near an address in Grays.

    He was also fined £225.
