MOST Saturday nights, Aveley residents have to contend with the noise from Lakeside cruisers.
But last weekend they also had to deal with what was described as a cacophony of noise coming from a two day music festival just over the border in Upminster.
We Are FSTVL is a two day celebration of dance music that attracts over 40,000 revellers from around the country.
By Sunday evening, many Aveley residents were tearing their hair out at the constant noise.
Scott Nelson of Ravel Gardens, Aveley said: "I am not a stick in the mud and grin and bear it on the Saturday night but by Sunday evening it was unbearable.
"I thought the music was next door. It was unbelievable."
Mr Nelson has gone on to make a formal complaint to Havering Council.
Another resident, who did not wish to be named said: "This was the worst year by far What seems to be wrong is that Havering Council get to make a decision on an event that is tucked away in the furthest corner of their area.
"It is us Aveley residents that should have far more of a say on this event.
A spokesperson for Havering Council said: "We have had three complaints regarding the festival. Thurrock Council attended our safety advisory group so would raise any concerns that they may have about the event."
The Romford Recorder newspaper has gone on to report that there were a number of problems at the event with chaotic scenes due to a lack of taxis and safety fears as
"revellers decided to walk along narrow country lanes to depart the site".
The organisers told the Recorder “We are extremely disappointed by the issues of Saturday night which meant customers had a very frustrating end to what had been a very good day overall and apologise to those frustrated by the traffic issues. We amend and improve our transport plans every year and this year will be no different.
“All feedback is always greatly appreciated from all FSTVL goers and we continue to invite further feedback to [email protected].”
