IT was a familiar story in Stanford’s encounter with Wickford at the Patmore Memorial Ground.
After being inserted a severely depleted Stanford made a steady start and were 71-2. However, a flurry of wickets curtailed any chances of a competitive total as the away side were blasted out for 96.
Alex Ellis (35) and Adrian Page (12) the only two Stanford batsmen to get into double figures. Dave Harrison was the pick of the Wickford attack taking 6-30 from 10.2 overs. Sam Oakes also bowled well returning figures of 3-12 from his seven overs.
After tea Stanford worked hard and managed to take two wickets, Clive Ballard, 1-24 from five overs and Nick Sharp 1-28 from eight overs bowled well. But, 96 was never going to be enough and Adam Deller (39 not out) and Lee Stace (32 not out) saw the home side to victory.
