THE Eastern Vets League saw the men finish a close 2nd to Southend. For these events they combine with Pitsea Runners and in the running events turn out a strong squad.

Scott Rice made an excellent contribution in the middle distance events, his best effort in the 1500m with 4.34m. Interesting effort came from newcomer Marek Kowalski in the sprints where he finished runner up on the V40 100m with 13.0s. A good contribution came from Steve Kemp who won the 1500m walk convincingly.

These matches cover events for all ages from 35-70 and are enjoyable low-key events. Team manager Bernie Johnson is to be congratulated on producing this sterling team effort – with everybody showing an admirable “have a go” attitude.
