ngage – the community organisation and Volunteer Centre for Thurrock – held a cream tea celebration event in partnership with Thurrock CVS, Thurrock Centre for Independent Living and BATIAS to thank volunteers who have supported both organisations and events/projects over the past year.

The event was held in Volunteers Week, which is a national annual celebration of the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK.

Laura Hudson, ngage Volunteer Coordinator said “Volunteers can make such a difference to many groups and organisations, and we wanted to say thank you for all the hard work and commitment that volunteers have given to the services of ngage. We would also like to extend our thanks to Madam Deputy Mayor, Cllr Cathy Kent for coming along and handing out the certificates to the volunteers”.

Other Volunteer Week activities included three VC local events held at the community hubs across Thurrock. Timebanking and Youth Volunteering was also promoted throughout Volunteers week and we were able to gain new members to these exciting projects.

Volunteer Centre Thurrock is currently recruiting volunteers to help out at Stanford Music Festival on 4th July, Thurrock 100 walk on 9th–18th July, Village Beach Festival on 18th July and the Big Lunch on 29th July.

Anyone interested should call Laura Hudson, Volunteer Coordinator on 01375 389853, email: [email protected] or visit the ngage website to view other volunteering opportunities: www.ngagethurrock.org.uk.
