    Stanford 2nd XI – 263 all out

    Match abandoned

    Belhus: 6 points

    Stanford: 6 points

RAIN curtailed any chances of a result between Belhus and Stanford’s second string with the game abandoned after nine overs of the second innings.

Earlier Belhus had inserted Stanford on a damp wicket but the away side got off to a promising start that set the tone for an imposing total. Openers Alex Ellis (39) and Dave White (16) put on 63 for the first wicket. But a flurry of wickets came with former Stanford player Ian Sanderson picking up 3-47.

Stanford’s innings recovered when the youth of 16-year-old Jack Carter and experience of Chris Sharp came to the crease and put on 133 for the sixth wicket. Jack Carter shone with an excellent maiden league half century scoring 75 supported by Sharp’s 54.

Jim Banner also took three wickets for Belhus and Sam Hall recorded figures of 2-34.

After tea Belhus batted for 9 overs before the rain washed out the game. Jack Wolfe scored 22 and Daryl Woodford picked up two Belhus wickets.
