Statement from Essex Police
"Police and the fire service are carrying out a joint investigation into a fire at a derelict building in Flint Street, Grays, on Wednesday June 24.
"We were called shortly after 6.20pm and a cordon was put in place around the scene to protect members of the public while firefighters tackled the blaze.
There was no-one inside the building, which has collapsed.
We would appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to call Grays CID on 101.

Update Thursday June 25 06:30hrs: The building has now collapsed and crews are extinguishing any remaining hotspots using two main jets. One fire appliance remains at the incident this morning.
Update Thursday June 25 01:40hrs: A controlled burn is taking place and crews are monitoring the fire. Two fire appliances remain at the scene.
Update 23:00hrs: Five fire appliances remain at the incident continuing to tackle the fire.
Update 21:40hrs: Firefighters are continuing to tackle the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown, ECFRS and Essex Police will carry out an investigation.
Update: 2005 hrs
Up to twenty fire officers are in attendance at the fire in Flint Street.
The police are in attendance as well.
Update 20:15hrs: Crews are working to extinguish the fire using four main jets.

Firefighters have been called to a derelict building on fire in Flint Street, West Thurrock.
Crews report the single storey building on fire measures 50 x 150 metres and it is 100 percent alight.
Crews are using four jets and the aerial ladder platform to tackle the blaze.
1925 hrs
THERE are reports of a large fire close to London Road in West Thurrock.
