LOCAL health trainer Trevor Rawson and his dog Teddy have been presented with their own special Thurrock 100 flag to fly on a ten day 100 mile jog around the borough. Trevor will be raising money for carers’ charity CARIADS and is challenging others to join him.

Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Sue Gray, says: “I wish Trevor and Teddy the best of luck but we don’t expect everyone to be as adventurous. Thurrock 100 is for people of all abilities, ages and backgrounds. We know that walking has many health benefits and want everyone to join in whether they walk for ten minutes or ten miles.”

Thurrock 100 is a walking and talking festival starting on 9 July 2015 and finishing on 18 July at the Village Beach Festival. The Council’s public health team have commissioned arts company Kinetika to work with local schools and community groups to create ten 4m high flags illustrating ten new local walks. The flags will be carried Olympic- torch style on each of the walks and will be displayed together on the Village Beach stage.

The Mayor also joined in painting the flags at Kinetika’s studios at High House, Purfleet. She said: “The flags are really stunning and will make a wonderful display at the Festival. The fact they were designed and painted by local children and adults make me proud to represent Thurrock.”
