A DEFINITE date for the re-opening of Hogg Lane in Grays has yet to be set.
There were hopes that it would be re-opened at the end of June but that date has come and gone with the road still closed and the consequent diversions causing a great deal of inconvenience for residents and commuters alike.
YT asked Thurrock Council for an update.
A spokesperson said: "Progress has been made on the urgent task of dealing with the sink hole on Hogg Lane and re-opening the road.
"Last week we filled the hole and the east section of the tunnel underneath the road with 315 cubic metres of foam concrete.
The foam concrete has filled and stabilised the hole and the east area but we are concerned that there may be other holes under the road surface. We will be drilling down to check before we complete the road surfacing and open one lane of Hogg Lane.
"We hope to be able to open a lane at the end of this week if safe to do so.
