DETECTIVES in Grays are investigating a burglary at a house in Lenmore Avenue where a number of sentimental and distinctive items were stolen.
The break in happened sometime between 1pm on Saturday, August 1 and 4pm on Wednesday, August 5.
Suspects unknown broke into the house by smashing the lower glass panel of the front door. Once inside they carried out a messy search of the property taking the keys to a white Ford Fiesta. They stole the car from the driveway and also took a number of items of jewellery.
They stole a custom made ring which is similar to the one in the attached photo, as well as a gold chain with family photo in gold saying First and Second WW Family Members and a shell badge made from a lapel pin belonging to the victim’s grandfather.
Investigating Officer Pc Nicola Hadfield, of Grays CID, said: "The victim has had a number of sentimental items stolen which are quite distinctive. If anybody has been offered any of these items for sale or has any information about the burglary I would urge them to get in touch.”
