FOUR people were arrested and 11 vehicles were seized during a road policing operation in Grays on Tuesday August 18.
The operation was carried out at Lodge Lane and was a follow-up to Operation Surround A Town held in Thurrock on Friday August 14.
Officers from the Essex Police Casualty Reduction Section and local officers used automatic number plate recognition technology (ANPR) and roadside spotters to identify drivers suspected of committing a range of offences.
Nine cars were seized for being uninsured and two were seized as the drivers did not have valid driving licences.
A total of 32 cars were found to have no MOT, 17 drivers were found to be driving without seat belts and four people were seen driving while using mobile phones.
Seven vehicles were found to have defects including two which were immediately prohibited from the roads until repairs were carried out.

A man stopped for driving while disqualified was arrested at the roadside and later released to appear at court at a later date.
A 30-year-old man from Basildon was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and later bailed until September 14 pending further enquiries.
Tommy Strutt, 30, of Crofton Road, Grays, was arrested and later charged with possessing cannabis, possessing a bladed weapon and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was bailed to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on September 16.
Lonel Titoiu, 37 from Romania was stopped for a vehicle offence and later charged with having no insurance and driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition. He was detained in police custody to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday August 19.
