Thurrock Council "outraged" as Essex Police tell them they will not be attending 97% of anti-social behaviour jobs

THURROCK Council’s portfolio holder for Public Protection, Jane Pothecary has reacted with anger to the Essex Police decision to downgrade it’s response to complaints of anti social behaviour.

In future only three percent of reports will result in a police officer attending.

"I am appalled that the scale of government cuts to policing leaves Essex Police unable to respond, in person, to any more than three out every one hundred incidents of anti social behaviour.

"The fact is that, so called, "anti social behaviour" is very often criminal and causes real distress for many in our communities.

“In addition, we all know that nipping bad behaviour in the bud can stop neighbourhoods, and people, from spiralling out of control.

"I am very angry at the damage these Tory government cuts continue to do here in Thurrock and across Essex. We have seen hundreds of jobs lost, police stations closed and now they have lost the ability to properly respond to lower level crime."
