Dulwich Hamlet 1 v 1 Grays Ath
A 95th minute header by brave Grays Ath captain, Kenny Beaney earned a valuable point for The Blues at Dulwich Hamlet.
The stage was set for Grays. A lovely pitch and a big crowd for two teams that many have tipped for promotion.
And early on Gray splayed their neat passing game whilst at the back Sean Cronin and Jay Leader were masterful in defence.
But as the game progressed you could never say that Grays were carving out gilt edged chances.
It was something of a surprise when Grays went a goal behind to Dulwich when Ashley Carew’s shot from outside the box skidded past the out-stretched hands of keeper Lamar Johnson.
Grays got their heads down and made inroads without ever really look like scoring.
The second half was dominated by Grays, It looked like only a matter of time before they would core but on the other hand, many of their attack flattered to deceive. Corners flow over every head and free kicks were weak.
Many would say that keeper Lamar Johnson should have been sent off when he handled the ball outside the box as he snuffed out an attack outside the box.
But the referee issued just a yellow.
As the game entered its final stage, striker Dumebi Dumaka was sent off for two careless yellow cards. The cards came think and fast in which was not a nasty game.
The frustration was etched on Mark Bentley’s face as it seemed he was facing his first defeat of the season.
But in the 95th minute, captain Kenny Beaney latched onto a high ball in the area and looped it over the Dulwich keeper.
The team were ecstatic,, the fans in seventh heaven and Grays remained second in the league and unbeaten.
They return to action on Monday at the mill Field against Brentwood.
