FIRE crews were called to a fire in a kitchen in Wickham Road, Chadwell St Mary.
Fire crews wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reels to extinguish the fire by 11:02hrs.
Four people have been made homeless following the fire.
The Red Cross Fire Support Vehicle was on the scene to provide immediate welfare arrangements.
