Springfield CC 1st XI 126-3
Thurrock CC 1st XI 125-10
By Bill West
THURROCK ended their Premier Division campaign with defeat away at Springfield.
The visitors batted first and after looking well set on 62-3, collapsed to finish all out for just 125. Number six Callum Brady top scored with an unbeaten 38 from 69 balls, while Mark O’Neill made 21, but there were no other significant scores to speak of. Chay Pollinger took four wickets for the hosts and Ben Marrion picked up three.
Defending 125 was going to be a difficult effort and so it proved as the hosts chased down the runs in just the 16th over with seven wickets remaining. James Latimir-Jones hit 57 not out, passing 1000 league runs for the season along the way. David Tester got two wickets for Thurrock with Brady getting the other wicket to fall.
Whilst the last game was a disappointment, Thurrock in the end finished third in the Premier Division to cap a very good season.
