CONTACT the Elderly recently launched a new tea party group in Thurrock on Sunday 6th September.
They organise monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for people aged 75 and over who live alone and have little or no contact with friends or family. Through this regular contact, their older guests begin to feel less lonely, they enjoy life again and their happiness soars. For many of our older guests, their tea parties are the only chance they have to get out of the house and socialise.
Local volunteers from Thurrock help the group to thrive – they give up a few hours of their time once a month and it makes a huge difference.
The group launch was held in St Clement’s Church and associates from Procter ands Gamble were there to present some money to the group. The sun was shining and a wonderful afternoon was had by all.
