UKIP MEP, Tim Aker has slammed Thurrock MP, Jackie Doyle-Price over her recent comments on the high rise flats in Grays.

Cllr Aker said: "Not a week goes by without Jackie Doyle-Price changing here stance on whether or not to get involved in Thurrock’s planning matters.

Before the election she commented on green belt developments. Then – after the election – she told residents "I have no role in the decision making process" when it came to the biomass plant in West Thurrock. Now at the last minute she is trying to rip down the flats in Grays. This is despite 6,500 residents on the housing waiting list and no clear plan for where the residents of the flats are going to go.

Cllr Tim Aker MEP added "Local people are always calling my office to get help having either tried calling their MP or given up with the poor responses they have received.

"From one week to the next her willingness to get involved shifts dramatically. She’s trying to stay relevant chipping in at the last minute with ill-informed commentary. All it shows is a lack of vision for Thurrock. Now the election is over it’s back to normal, an arms-length MP who sees Thurrock as just a line on a CV.

"Thurrock is my home and we will all continue to fight for a better, more prosperous borough. My office on 49-51 Orsett Road is open Mondays to Fridays and anyone seeking help or advice can come in or book an appointment by calling 01375 415 650."
