NGAGE, the community organisation and Volunteer Centre for Thurrock are encouraging people and local groups to help ‘make a difference’ this October with a Grays to Purfleet River Front clean up event taking place on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd October, 10am – 2pm.

Annette Lewis, community worker for ngage said “The 2 day event is to help make the river walk footpath more accessible for local people. It’s in need of a good litter pick and general tidy up as there are a lot of over grown brambles along the foot path.

There is already some activity taking place along the river front with improvements to the play area by the Phoenix Group who is a mini time bank. Therefore if people are Time Bank members they will be able to claim Time Credits for helping at this event.”

“As well as the River Front clean up there will also be other Make a difference events taking place with Community hubs in Thurrock, including Stifford Clays, South Ockendon, Chadwell St Mary, Aveley and Tilbury”.

So why not pop in to see what the community hubs have planned for this October or visit the ngage website for more information about other make difference day projects. Alternatively residents and groups can come up with their own Make a difference projects to support their local community.
