Rugby: Thurrock back to winning ways

Thurrock 40 v 0 Letchworth

THURROCK got back into winning ways with an emphatic win at home to their Hertfordshire visitors, it was just reward after losing twice to them last season. The home side always were in the ascendency from the start in a side welcoming back captain Reece Durrance second row James Flavin and back Joss Nunn all three changing the dynamics of the side.

Tom Worsfold had his kicking boots slotting over a very early penalty, Thurrock looked dangerous in attack with strong running wide out causing the visitors defence problems and it was winger Jake Barrand who combined well with Earl Gorman to junk inside for the opening try, Worsfold added the xtra’s to lead 10-0. He added a penalty shortly afterwards then Bradleigh Retigan added try wide out, he the conversion but added a further penalty just on the stroke of half time for a 21-0 half time lead

The second continued in the vein, and Thurrock added three second half tries coming from Jake Barrand his second of the match, Hagen Mumba and Joss Nunn, Worsfold adding two conversions to complete the scoring.

It was a very good team performance and getting back to full strength in what will be a very period before Christmas

The Saturday Thurrock make the short journey to dave Barking, kick off at Gale Street will be 3pm
