Athletics: Harriers impress at Thurrock parkrun

THURROCK Harriers were well represented at the 11th park run held on Saturday morning at Orsett Heath.

Toby Draper headed the squad as he won for the 2nd time in 19m20s. Sarab Dhillon was next in with a time close to 20m. Two previous winners had a race long battle. Henri Willett prevailed this time over Jamie Mack. Henri’s 3rd place time was 20m18. Keith Willett separated the two as he incorporated this run into his long weekend training run. Other finishers were Martin Mack 7th, Dylan Harrod 8th, Kirk Bundy 10th,

In 12th place is good to see Harriers’ Rebecca Barnard leading home the ladies race. Rebecca who specialises in shorter distances reported that she had recently recorded a time of 62s for the 400m. This bodes well for her track and field season.

Another speed merchant in action was Liam Chivers who ran a steady race to finish 22nd.

The annual Boxing Day Crown to Crown takes place on Saturday. Surprisingly it is a very large crowd with many people trying to run off Christmas excesses. The event starts at 11.00.
