LAST week Thurrock Council brought eight prosecutions against seven parents at Basildon Magistrates’ Court in relation to non-attendance at school.
Fines ranged between £40 and £273. The costs awarded ranged between £160 and £845.
This still means that some mothers were fined close to £700 and have just a week to pay.
