AVELEY and Uplands councillor, Robert Ray has described last night’s Thurrock Council meeting as an example of why he thinks UKIP are not ready to take over at Thurrock Council.
Cllr Ray had only quit UKIP for a few days but he has not wasted any time in putting the local branch under the microscope.
Cllr Ray stood up at the budget meeting and after praising council officers spoke out against his former colleagues.
"UKIP have no ideas of their own but continually supporting the Labour group.
"If you aspire to be the new group then you need to do more than this."
After the meeting he said: "Thurrock UKIP could be in power in less than ten weeks time.
"We should have seen an alternative budget that looks at all areas of the council. Not just agreeing with John Kent."
His speech can be seen from 35 mins onward.
