SHADOW portfolio holder for public protection, cllr Andrew Roast (Cons) is (we understand) set to stand down next month.
That would be a shame as he has an intelligence and grasp of local politics that will be sorely missed.
Last month, the chief constable of Essex spoke to Thurrock Council. Cllr Roast felt that, in the light of the lamentable report Essex Police received from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate and the fact that the chief made no mention of it (either direct or implied) ,then there was a case of the chief coming back to the chamber to help Thurrock Council with their inquiries.
Cllr Roast’s question came as part of the portfolio holder for public protection, cllr Jane Pothecary’s presentation.
