Night of arson attacks in Thurrock

    Oliver Road, Grays

    Firefighters were called to a fire in an area of shrubland in Oliver Road, Grays.

    Firefighters reported the area, which measured 10m x 10m, was well alight. Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire by 16:45hrs.

    The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.

    Tank Hill Road, Purfleet

    Firefighters were called to a caravan on fire. On arrival, crews reported the caravan was 100 per cent alight. Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire by 18:31hrs.

    A joint fire sevice and police investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire.

    Maidstone Road, Grays

    Firefighters have been called to a fire involving an industrial unit measuring 15m x 8m. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using one main jet and two hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

    Update 23:36hrs: The fire has been extinguished. A joint fire service and police investigation will be carried out to establish the cause.

    Dacre Avenue, Aveley

    Firefighters were called to a fire in a row of seven garages. On arrival crews reported one garage was 100 per cent alight and the fire had spread to the roofs of a further three garages.

    Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extingiush the fire by 00:22hrs.

    This incident has been recorded as deliberate.
