Appeal after Stanford-le-Hope man robbed

DETECTIVES have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with a robbery.

A 51-year-old man from Stanford le Hope was in Market Square, Basildon, at 1.20pm on Monday, February 1 when he was approached by a man who asked for a small amount of money for a bus fare.

When the victim took out his wallet, the suspect demanded money and grabbed the wallet from his hands before running off towards the bus station.

The victim was not injured but was left shaken by the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are now in a position to release footage of a man they want to identify.

He is described as black, about 6ft tall, of medium build and wore a dark baseball cap, dark jacket and dark trousers with a white emblem on the left leg.
