Man seriously injured after mass brawl at Treacle Mine

ESSEX Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Hogg Lane, Grays, near to the ambulance station, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was at the Treacle Mine pub at around midnight when a fight started. This involved around 10 men and then spilled out onto Hogg Lane behind the pub. It is believed the victim was assaulted with a large bike chain which caused him to suffer serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital and is now in stable but not life threatening condition.

Officers from Grays CID are appealing for witnesses. Anybody who saw the incident or who has any other information that may help the investigation is asked to contact Dc Manoj Patel at Grays on Essex Police 101. People can also give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
