Thurrock Marching Brass leads scouts in St George’s Day Parade

THURROCK Marching Brass led the St George’s Day Scout Parade in Grays, from Hathaway Academy to Blackshots.

Getting into the community is really important for this young group and

to perform such an important day and within our own borough was a special treat. The St George’s Day parade involves more than 1,000 members from all areas of the Scout movement. The band was extremely well received by everyone present along the route whilst they played selected parade music.

This young, up and coming group of talented individuals, whose average age currently is just under 10 years, are taught by some of the boroughs most talented staff and are given music, dance, choreography and performing arts training all year round with a range of musical instruments in both the brass/wind and percussive spectrums. No former knowledge or experience is necessary and instruments and tuition are all provided, so if you feel like coming along and joining in the fun you can find full details on our web site or via our Facebook page.

Jay Lindner, Corps Director of Thurrock Marching Brass commented on the day “I am so proud of each and every member and all those surrounding them including the staff, some of whom joined in on the St George’s Day Parade, for their achievement. They did extremely well and the feedback we received has been incredibly positive. To be a part of such an important and worthwhile effort such as the St George’s Day Scout Parade within the borough just shows that the community is a strong one and has so many diverse and worthwhile activities for all of our youngsters to get involved in. It was a pleasure to take part and we look forward to more community work going forwards into the future. We are a marching band that is formed from the community and are delighted to be able to play as much as we can within the community. Well done to everyone for a really good show of strength for the youngsters of Thurrock at these events”.

Thurrock Marching Brass is proud to perform as much as they can within the community and you can keep up to date with all their engagements on our website below or by following them on Facebook.
