Pensioners enjoy their afternoon tea at Horndon on the Hill Primary

PENSIONERS from Horndon on the Hill were invited to join the children for Afternoon Tea on Monday 13th June. The children in class 6 served up a wonderful afternoon tea of sandwiches and cakes, and the children from each year came to sing a song to entertain them.

All thoroughly enjoyed the day. Mrs Carol Lockyer said, "It’s been absolutely fantastic! The children are lovely, the food has been lovely and the children’s singing, we have thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a lovely atmosphere in school."

Sue Little – Ward Councillor for Horndon on the Hill thanked the school. "We’ve had a fabulous afternoon being entertained by Horndon School in celebration of the Queens 90th birthday.

"The elderly of Horndon were invited there for afternoon tea and the children waited on tables giving us copious amounts of tea sandwiches and cakes. We were then serenaded by the children who sung like angels.

"Thank you to the head master and staff for inviting us there and let’s hope it becomes a yearly event as it was lovely to see the different age groups mixing together."
