"Thurrock Community Policing team were made aware of an image circulating social media on July 1 2016, of a female committing an offence of public indecency next to the War memorial on Grays High Street.
The alleged offence had occurred on June 30, with the image being on social media one hour before we were informed. Straight away an investigation was launched, with the majority of the team becoming involved, from CCTV enquiries, finding witnesses and getting statements to identifying and putting together an arrest package for a suspect.
"The team worked tirelessly on this investigation, and on July 2 a 42 year old female suspect was arrested by PC Natalie Malone on suspicion of outraging public decency and has now been charged and remanded for this offence by Grays CID.
"This is a positive result for the team, who took just under 20 hours from seeing the image to identify the suspect and gather enough evidence and information to perform a successful arrest.
"We are aware that the image that was circulates was distressing for people, and caused an emotional response, and therefore we wanted to give an update on the result, as well as a thank you to the members of the public who assisted in this investigation".
